SH2 125 Cocoon nebula
Imaged by Jean-Yves Beninger from Ollioules, France on 13 August 2023
A beautiful sight in Cygnus, the Cocoon nebula, a giant dust and molecular cloud, is a star forming region, a stellar nursery.
The bright star in the center of the nebula is thought to be only a few hundred thousand years old, it has cleared a cavity in the cloud and the energy it radiates powers
the nebular red glow.
Notice the long trail of obscuring interstellar dust clouds "above" it.
