Description:
The red and blue RCW 89 at the top is a bright emission nebula embedded within the powerful supernova remnant associated with pulsar PSR B1509–58 in the southern constellation of Circinus. It is shaped by intense winds and energetic particles emitted by the rapidly spinning neutron star left behind after a massive stellar explosion.
The heart shaped RCW 91 on the left is an extended supernova remnant whose faint expanding shells trace the remains of a massive stellar explosion interacting with the surrounding interstellar medium.
