Description:
RCW 83 is an emission nebula located in the southern constellation Centaurus, part of the rich star-forming regions that populate the Milky Way’s inner spiral arms.
It glows predominantly in hydrogen-alpha light, where energetic ultraviolet radiation from nearby young, massive stars ionises surrounding gas, causing it to shine with a deep red hue.
