Collinder 411 is a large, loosely scattered open star cluster located in the southern constellation Octans, close to the south celestial pole. With an apparent magnitude of about 5.3, it is theoretically visible to the unaided eye under dark skies, although its stars are spread across a wide area and do not form a bright, compact grouping.
Like other open clusters, Collinder 411 is composed of stars that formed from the same molecular cloud and have gradually dispersed through the gravitational influence of the Milky Way.
